DEXPAN
is designed for controlled mining and quarrying to save your
valuable stone and work safer.
DEXPAN
is more cost-effective than blasting, includes primer cord,
detonating cord.

The DEXPAN II worked
great on these large pieces of granite in our quarry in Naples,
Idaho.

COMPARISON
- Blasting vs DEXPAN
|
|
|
Traditional
Quarrying Method
By
using Explosives, Primer
Cord, Detonating Cord to Blast.
|
DEXPAN
Non-Explosive Controlled Quarrying Method
|
|
COST
|
Waste
of valuable stone. Permits, training, storage, transportation and high
insurance rates.
|
It
is possible to save up to 20%
in comparison to blasting when DEXPAN is used properly (Diagram
1 shows how).
Plus
about 15% savings of valuable stone.
In
total, DEXPAN may save you thousands of dollars.
|
|
SAFETY
|
Poor
safety is always the biggest problem of blasting. Explosions can cause
noise, flying rock, dust, toxic gases, vibration, fire, serious injury
and/or damage expensive equipment.
OSHA
regulations are restricted.
|
Product
safely breaks rock with extreme expansive capability when mixed with
common water.
NO
noise, NO toxic gases, NO flying rock, NO vibration.
Earth-friendly
product can be flushed away by water after use. MSDS and instruction
guide are available.
A
pair of goggles, rubber gloves and dust-proof mask is all that is
recommended.
|
|
SAVING
valuable
Stone
|
Blasting
causes 15%-30% of wasted stone due to blasting into useless small
pieces.
This
means wasting of thousands of dollars.
|
Controlled
quarrying method makes it possible to quarry your valuable stone
almost WITHOUT any waste.
It
is ideal to quarry big blocks of valuable stone or dimension stone
into desired dimensions.
|
|
Training
and Usage
|
Professional
training or hiring of blasting contractor is necessary. Both are
costly.
Usage
is complex and dangerous.
|
3
easy steps to use DEXPAN, drilling, mixing, pouring.
Homeowners
are using DEXPAN worldwide with little or no training other than the
instruction included or by telephone. No need to hire any contractors.
|
|
Permit
and License
|
It
is necessary by OHSA regulation.
Procedure
of getting a permit or Licensed blaster is complicated and costly.
|
NO
permit or license is required
|
|
Storage
and Transportation
|
It
is complicated to handle explosives.
The
costs of storage and shipping are high.
|
NO
special storage needed other than keeping it dry.
NO
shelf life.
Can
be shipped / exported by air, ocean, ground.
|
|
Insurance
|
Insurance
is required.
Rate
is high due to higher risks of danger.
|
Insurance
is recommended but not required.
|
|
Controllable
Breaking
|
It
is possible but complicated.
A
blasting expert is necessary.
|
Full
controlled cracking by easily drilling holes for your desired design.
You may also control the cracking time by mixing more or less water.
|
|
Working
Time
|
Explosions
are quick.
But
preparation is timely.
|
Acceptable.
The cracks appear in about 2 hours depending
on weather, interior temperature of the rock. The cracks become wider
with time
(24hr
max. expanding time).

Diagram
1 - How to use DEXPAN properly to lower your quarrying cost
than blasting. |
|

|
|
A.
Drill holes with 1.5 inch diameter, 6-8 inches apart. Mix
DEXPAN into water as the rate of 3lbs of DEXPAN to 1lb of
water. Mix well. |
|

|
|
B.
Fill up the holes as showed above, leave some holes empty.
DEXPAN is strong enough to crack with up to 3-4 empty holes in
between. |
|

|
|
C.
The crack gets narrower with more empty holes in between, also
depends on the hardness of stone that you are quarrying.
If
you can leave more holes empty but still get good cracks, you
can lower the quarrying cost dramatically even 20% lower than
blasting.
